- Summary: How renaming ScreenDock to ScreenDock: AirPlay Receiver and rewriting its Google Play listing with ASOMaster took it from no installs to 517 in 28 days.

# ScreenDock: from a brand-only name to 517 installs in 28 days

ScreenDock is our Google Play app that lets an Android phone, tablet or TV receive AirPlay from a Mac, iPhone or iPad. Under the name "ScreenDock" alone, it didn't show up in the top 30 Google Play results for "airplay receiver" or "screen mirroring", and almost nobody installed it. We renamed it "ScreenDock: AirPlay Receiver" on 9 October 2026 and rewrote the listing around what people search. In the 28 days to 3 November, it got 517 new installs, more than ten times the 28 days before. Below: what changed, what happened, and what ASOMaster says to do next.

ScreenDock and ASOMaster are both made by Cressu OÜ; this is our own app. Install numbers come from Google Play Console. Rankings, scores and keyword numbers come from ASOMaster's Google Play project for ScreenDock. Volume and difficulty are ASOMaster's 0–100 estimates built from store search results, not search counts; no Google Ads data was connected. Checked on 2 November 2026

## What is the app?

ScreenDock turns an Android device into an AirPlay receiver: mirror a Mac, iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi, use an Android tablet as a second screen for a Mac, or play music from Apple devices. It is a young listing competing with apps that have tens of thousands of ratings. Here is how it presents itself on Google Play today:

## What did we change?

In early October the listing had the brand name and little else: the title was just "ScreenDock", the text was in English only, there were two screenshots and no ratings. ScreenDock wasn't in the top 30 Google Play results for "airplay receiver" or "screen mirroring". Every app ranking there had "AirPlay" in its title. We made two passes.

1. **9 October: the name and the text.** The title became "ScreenDock: AirPlay Receiver" (28 of 30 characters). The short and full descriptions were rewritten around the phrases people search: AirPlay receiver, AirPlay for Android, a second screen for a Mac, AirPlay audio. The same day the listing went live in five more languages: German, French, Spanish, Japanese and Portuguese, each with "AirPlay" in its local title.
2. **26 October: the second pass.** ASOMaster's rank check had ScreenDock at 28th for "airplay receiver" in the US and still outside the top 30 for "airplay", "screen mirroring" and "airplay tv". The short description now leads with "AirPlay receiver & screen mirroring", and the full description gained "what people use it for" and "how to connect" sections. A promo video, localized feature graphics and a stronger first screenshot went live too.

## What happened?

Google Play Console, read on 4 November 2026:

- **517 new installs** (device acquisitions) in the 28 days from 7 October to 3 November. Play shows this as up more than 999% on the 28 days before.
- **The installed audience tripled in nine days**, from 120 devices on 24 October to 367 on 2 November, and grew every day but one.
- **221 monthly active devices**, and an average rating of 5.0.

Both passes changed several things at once, and app updates shipped in the same weeks, so we can't credit any single change. What we can say is that the name and text are the part search reads, and before them ScreenDock wasn't found for its own category.

## What do we track now?

We added the app to ASOMaster as a Google Play project with the US as its main market and 17 more: Germany, France, Singapore, the UK, Italy, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Taiwan, Japan, the Netherlands, Turkey, Canada, Australia, Switzerland, the UAE and Poland. It has 40 keywords: 15 that the listing targets and 25 ideas to test. ASOMaster wrote the phrase people would type in each market's language, so the 40 keywords became 716 searches across the 18 markets.

## Where does it stand now?

The [audit](https://asomaster.app/app-store-audit/) scores the app 11 out of 100 across the 18 markets, weighted by each market's potential, with the verdict "Rethink the keywords": the listing misses what people search, or the app is hardly found while big gaps stay open. In the US it scores 19: rankings 3, listing 53, competition 7. ScreenDock is found for 3 of the 40 keywords there, all between rank 11 and 30, none in the top 10.

The audit across all countries, before any AI verdict was written.

Three things stand out. The English-speaking markets all score about 20 with the same listing, held back by rankings, not by the text. South Korea, Saudi Arabia and the UAE score 0 for the listing: people there search in Korean or Arabic, and the listing holds none of those words. And competition is "well defended" in every market. The US issues list has three entries: the title doesn't start with its best phrase, "airplay receiver"; the short description names devices (iPhone, iPad), which the audit flags as a review risk on Google Play; and the full description lacks "chromecast airplay".

## Which keywords are worth it?

Volume and difficulty below are ASOMaster's estimates for the US, with ranks in the US and the UK. A dash means not ranked in the checked results.

| Keyword | Est. volume | Difficulty | US rank | UK rank | Verdict (US) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| airplay receiver | 35 | 39 | 28 | 23 | Opportunity |
| airplay for android | 36 | 44 | – | – | Opportunity |
| airplay receiver android | 17 | 43 | – | 28 | Consider |
| airplay android tv | 35 | 64 | – | – | Tough |
| airplay mirroring | 38 | 78 | – | – | Tough |
| chromecast airplay | 39 | 81 | – | – | Tough |
| screen mirroring | 80 | 100 | – | – | Tough |
| uxplay | 0 | 79 | 16 | 4 | Drop |

- **"airplay receiver" is the best target.** Estimated volume 35 and difficulty 39 in both the US and the UK, and the app already ranks 28th in the US and 23rd in the UK. It is the audit's "best chance" in the US.
- **"airplay for android" is the other opportunity**: volume 36 and difficulty 44 in the US, but ScreenDock isn't ranked for it yet. It is tracked as an idea, not yet one of the phrases the listing targets.
- **"screen mirroring" is the big one, and out of reach.** Volume 80, the highest on the board, but difficulty 100: the leading apps have a median of about 56,000 ratings. "airplay mirroring" (38, difficulty 78) and "chromecast airplay" (39, difficulty 81) are tough for the same reason.
- **"uxplay" ranks but brings nobody.** UxPlay is the name of an open-source AirPlay receiver. ScreenDock ranks for it in 12 markets, in the top 10 in 5, as high as first, and 4th in the UK. Its estimated volume is 0, so those ranks bring almost no visitors.

## What happens in other languages?

Many of the local phrases have an estimated volume of 0. In Germany, "airplay empfänger" and "airplay empfänger android" both read 0, so ASOMaster marks them Replace: they take space in the listing and bring no searches. In France, "duplication écran" reads 0 and is marked Replace too, while "récepteur airplay" reads 10 and stays a Consider. The phrase with real demand in Germany is "bildschirm spiegeln" (screen mirroring), at 42, but its difficulty is 93. In those markets the English "airplay android tv" (volume 34) carries more searches than most of the translations. The [guide to localizing app keywords](https://asomaster.app/blog/localizing-app-keywords/) explains why a translation often ranks for nothing.

## Who is ahead?

On the phrases ScreenDock shares with other apps, these three lead most often:

| App | Developer | Ahead on shared phrases | Average rank | US ratings |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AirMirror: TV Cast & Mirror | BoostVision | 26 of 26 | 2.3 | 21,551 |
| AirCast: AirPlay Phone to TV | Delta Software | 20 of 20 | 4.8 | 2,097 |
| AirScreen - AirPlay & Cast | Ionitech | 14 of 14 | 4.4 | 21,331 |

All three are ahead of ScreenDock on every phrase they share with it. AirCast is the interesting one: it ranks on 20 of the same phrases with about 2,000 ratings, a sign that this niche can be entered without tens of thousands of reviews.

## What is the plan?

Installs are growing, but the audit says there is a lot left: no keyword in the US top 10 yet. This is what ASOMaster's numbers point to next. None of it has shipped yet.

1. **Push the winnable phrases higher.** "airplay receiver" is already in the title; "airplay for android" should move into the short description, where Google Play weighs words most.
2. **Drop local phrases nobody searches.** Replace the zero-volume translations, such as "airplay empfänger", with phrases that have demand in that market, or with the English phrase people there type.
3. **Keep "uxplay" only where it is free.** It ranks but has no measurable demand, so it should not take title or short description space.
4. **Leave "screen mirroring" for later.** At difficulty 100 it isn't worth chasing until ScreenDock has many more ratings.
5. **Check weekly.** Re-run the rank check every week after the change, compare each phrase with this baseline market by market, and look at the audit score's history.

The next step in the app is [Listing Studio](https://asomaster.app/aso-listing-studio/), which drafts the new title and short description and won't recommend one that reaches fewer searches than the current listing. For the method behind each step, see the [Google Play title and description guide](https://asomaster.app/blog/google-play-aso-title-descriptions/) and the [app store optimization guide](https://asomaster.app/app-store-optimization/).
