Getting started
From download to your first board of ranks. Plan on about ten minutes, most of it waiting for the first check.
What you need
| System | Details |
|---|---|
| macOS | macOS 13 Ventura or later. One universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, signed with our Developer ID and notarized by Apple. |
| Windows (beta) | 64-bit Windows. The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn the first time: choose More info, then Run anyway. |
You also need an ASOMaster Pro subscription (€15.99 a month or €49 a year, VAT added) and, for drafting keywords and listings, an AI provider you already have. A store console account is optional.
1. Download and install
- macOS: open the .dmg and drag ASOMaster into Applications. Keep it there: the MCP bridge for agents is expected at that path.
- Windows: run the setup .exe. It installs for your user account, no admin rights needed.
The app updates itself. When a new version is ready, the sidebar shows it and one click installs it.
2. Buy and activate
After checkout, your license key arrives by email from asomaster@cressu.com within a minute or two. Paste it into the activation screen. Activation binds the license to this computer; each license works on two computers at a time. To move it, deactivate in Settings › License and devices, or free a slot on the web. Details: License and computers.
Didn't get the email? Check spam, then request it again at asomaster-api.cressu.com/license.
3. The setup guide
After activation a short guide walks you through four steps. Only the first is needed for AI features; you can skip the rest and come back from Settings.
AI provider. Pick Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Ollama or an Anthropic API key. ASOMaster checks what is installed and signed in, runs any missing step in one Terminal window, and asks the model a test question before it says Ready. See AI providers.
Store consoles (optional). Connect App Store Connect or Google Play Console to list your own apps, read your keyword field and analytics, and publish listings. Without one, ASOMaster reads your public store page. See App Store Connect and Google Play Console.
Real popularity (optional). Connect Apple Ads or Google Ads, or import a CSV, to see real popularity next to the estimates. See Real popularity.
First app. Choose your markets and add an app.
4. Add your first app
Click Add app in the top bar. Tabs cover each way in:
- Search: find any app in the App Store or Google Play. With a console connected, your own apps are listed the moment you focus the field, with Add and Add all.
- Paste link: a store link; its country becomes the app's main market.
- Niche idea: describe an app you haven't built yet and get a starting set of keywords to measure.
- Import file: keywords from a CSV, or from Astro on this Mac.
Choose whether it's your app or a rival. New apps track 18 markets by default. On the App Store those are the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Mexico. Google Play's default set swaps a few for India, Indonesia, Turkey and Poland. You can track up to 54 App Store and 53 Google Play markets, and change the defaults in Settings › Markets.
ASOMaster reads the app's listing, suggests keywords from it, and writes each keyword the way people search for it in every market's own language.
5. Run your first check
Open Rankings and click Run check. Every keyword is searched in every market's store, live. The stores limit how fast anyone can search, so a full board takes a few minutes; Jobs shows progress and time left, and the board fills in as results arrive. If a store asks the app to slow down, the job pauses and resumes by itself.
Each cell then shows your rank and its movement, difficulty, estimated volume and, once connected, real popularity. The colour is the verdict: green where you rank, amber where there is an opening, red where it's hard to win. Metrics explained covers every number.
Checks can repeat on a schedule (daily, weekly, every two weeks or monthly) from Settings › Checks and alerts, and rank alerts can reach you in the app, on Slack or by email.
Where to go next
- Listing Studio: draft three options for your name, subtitle and keyword field, compare any two word by word, localize the winner and publish it.
- Assistant (⌘J): ask in plain words or use slash commands; it proposes changes you approve one by one.
- Agents: let Claude Code, Codex or Cursor drive the app. See MCP for agents.
- Questions about data, privacy or billing: FAQ.
