App Store metadata checker
Paste your app name, subtitle and keyword field to check them against App Store limits before you submit: 30 characters, 30 characters and 100 bytes. The checker also flags words repeated across fields and builds a clean comma list. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
The rules it checks
- Length. App name and subtitle up to 30 characters each (Apple: app information); keyword field up to 100 bytes (Apple: platform version information).
- Commas without spaces. Each space after a comma costs a byte that could hold part of a keyword.
- Keywords longer than two characters, as Apple asks.
- No repeated words. App Store search combines words across the name, subtitle and keyword field, so a word counts once wherever it appears. Simple English plurals count as the same word ("story" and "stories").
- No platform names such as iPhone, iPad or Android in the name or subtitle.
These are the same checks ASOMaster's Listing Studio runs on every draft. The checker skips filler words such as "the" or "for" when it looks for repeats; the app uses a larger list in every language.
What it can't tell you
Whether a word is worth its bytes. That depends on how many people search it and how strong the apps ranking for it are, market by market. The guide to the name, subtitle and keyword field explains how to choose, and the ASOMaster keyword tracker measures rank, difficulty and popularity for every word in every market.
Privacy: the checker is a script in this page. What you type stays in your browser and is not stored or sent.
